Fred Kolano is an industrial engineer with a Masters degree in business. He has over 35 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and value management. He has planned and conducted Value Engineering studies and VE training for numerous government and industrial clients. Improvements to products, projects, and processes has been the focus of hundreds of VE improvement studies and one of his strengths. He has led studies to improve processes in the chemical and aerospace industries, environmental restoration, waste management project design, transportation facilities, and management processes. His broad financial background is essential to guiding individuals through cost-savings calculations. Furthermore, Mr. Kolano has been an expert facilitator of hundreds of team-building sessions, issue and conflict resolution meetings, and retreats with teams ranging from five to upwards of 40 individuals.
Eric Trimble is a Certified Value Specialist and Project Management Professional, supporting VMS, Inc.’s value management and risk analysis field operations. In this capacity, he has participated on numerous value management studies on a variety of projects for government agencies including Caltrans, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Department of State. Prior to joining VMS, Inc., Eric worked for eight years as a Credit Relationship Portfolio Manager. Eric started his career with CVS, Inc., a VE consulting firm in Portland, Oregon.
Ms. Carson’s Value Methodology experience encompasses a wide variety of projects and roles within the VM field. Her many years of experience include embassy complexes, shipyards and wharves, hangars, water and wastewater facilities, hospitals, bridges and other transportation projects, housing developments, utilities and infrastructure projects, and both K-12 and higher-educational facilities. Since 2010, in addition to countless value studies, Ms. Carson has served as Facilitator of several of VMS’ two dozen Functional Analysis Concept Development (FACD) workshops, and managed the coordination of all of them. As Director of Project Management, she plays an integral role in coordinating the right team members to support VMS’ value studies. She has presented several papers on organizational behavior and psychology theories that support effective communication, group development, and intrinsic motivation, and works to integrate these concepts into her management of each project.
Jeff Rude, CVS®, Sr. Value Manager
Jeff Rude has worked as a consultant, facilitator, and Value Specialist since 2003 helping public sector and private organizations manage and improve the value of their projects and ongoing operations. He is experienced in design and construction, product and service innovation, strategic investments, and cash flow optimization.
April Hiller, CVS®, ENV SP, Value Manager
April Hiller is a Certified Value Specialist and an Envision™ Sustainability Professional (ENV SP). April has performed as either assistant facilitator or lead facilitator on roughly 100 VE studies and edited over 500 VE study reports on all types of projects, including highway/transit, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, military facilities, infrastructure construction, port and navigation/marine facilities, manufacturing, business process improvement studies and strategic planning workshops. Ms. Hiller has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from San Diego State University, and Master’s degree in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University.
