Rob is a Certified Value Specialist, Project Management Professional and Risk Management Professional who has been practicing Value Methodology for 30 years. During this time, he has led over 500 value studies for clients in both the private and public sectors on a wide range of products, services, and facilities, from forklifts to multi-billion-dollar transportation projects.

Rob has been heavily involved in the development of software-based applications related to Value Methodology, Risk Management, and Decision Support.

Rob has authored three books on the management of value and risk, “Fundamentals of Value Methodology,” “Value Optimization for Project and Performance Management,” and “Risk Management for Design and Construction.”  He has also taught courses and lectured at Portland State University, the University of California – Berkeley, and Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea.

Terry Hays, CVS-Life, F-SAVE

Terry is the founder of VMS. He has over 40 years of experience in engineering, design, and value management for a variety of applications. He has extensive experience in leading value engineering training seminars and workshops for government, municipal, and industrial clients and has participated in many detailed value engineering studies of technical facilities and processes. He has conducted over 120 value management training workshops and trained over 10,000 people in a wide variety of industries the value engineering techniques.

Terry wrote the chapter on value engineering for Maynard’s Industrial Engineering Handbook – Fourth Edition (McGraw-Hill, 1992), has published multiple papers on value engineering, and written training manuals on value engineering that cover construction projects, product designs, manufacturing processes, and administrative systems and procedures.

Senior Vice President, Project Controls
Greg is a Certified Value Specialist, Risk Management Professional, Project Management Professional, Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst, Professional in Business Analysis, and Envision Sustainability Professional practicing the Value Methodology for more than 15 years. He has extensive experience in project delivery performing risk analysis, risk management, financial and life-cycle costing analysis. Greg’s experience includes consulting on infrastructure and vertical construction projects, programs, and portfolios of varying scale and scope, ranging from a million dollars to multibillion-dollar engagements.

Greg is an industry-recognized expert with deep knowledge and hands-on experience in capital project delivery. His experience in risk analysis, risk management, cost estimating, economic forecasting, value management, and modeling techniques help to optimize the delivery of capital portfolios, programs, and projects. He also has extensive knowledge of operations research, project and program management, value engineering and optimization.

Ashley Carson, MSOD, CVS®, LEED® Green Associate
Vice President, Organization Effectiveness
Ashley’s value methodology experience encompasses a wide variety of projects and roles within the value management field. Her 15 years of experience include military complexes, shipyards and wharves, hangars, water and wastewater facilities, hospitals, bridges and other transportation projects, housing developments, utilities and infrastructure projects, and both K-12 and higher educational facilities.

In recent years, Ashley has been actively working with clients in analyzing their organizations and optimizing their effectiveness. These projects leveraged myriad methodologies, including appreciative inquiry, open systems analysis, and small and large group intervention methods. Areas of focus have included organizational assessments and identification of opportunities for improvement, process mapping and optimization, team building, and organizational change management.

Eric Trimble, CVS, PMP, ENV SP
Vice President, Value Engineering
Eric is a Certified Value Specialist and Project Management Professional, supporting VMS, Inc.’s value management and risk analysis field operations. He has facilitated over 150 value management, process improvement, and design charrette workshops during his years with VMS, on a variety of projects for government agencies including Caltrans, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Department of State. Prior to joining VMS, Inc., Eric worked for eight years as a Credit Relationship Portfolio Manager. Eric started his career with CVS, Inc., a value engineering consulting firm in Portland, Oregon.

Ethan Brown
Technology Director
Ethan has 20 years of experiences as a software engineer, and five years in a technical leadership position. He has written two books on software development for O’Reilly Media, “Learning JavaScript, 3rd Edition,” “Web Development with Node and Express.” Ethan has also spoken at Node Interactive and OSCON. In addition to his technical expertise, he holds an MBA from Portland State University, with experience as part of an executive leadership team. Prior to joining VMS in a technical leadership role, Ethan spent several years developing Value Engineering facilitation software for VMS on a contract basis.

Cheryl Kramer
Vice President, Operations

Cheryl manages VMS’s day-to-day business operations, overseeing staff to ensure the functions are being performed properly to support organizational needs. These functions include Contract Management, Financial Management, and Human Resources Management. She is also responsible for maintaining corporate records and serves as VMS’s Facility Security Officer. With over 25 years of experience in management, Cheryl brings a wealth of knowledge to VMS and our clients.
